
Robert V. Fontanesi, D.D.S., Diplomate American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is a graduate of the Univeristy of Michigan School of Dentistry. He received his Oral and Maxillofacial training at the University of Iowa where he also earned a Masters of Science Degree. A practicing oral surgeon, he has been on the consulting staff at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Long Beach, California and the teaching staff at Loma Linda University and the University of California at Irvine. He has been Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Western Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Fontanesi was also president of the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Fontanesi's particular areas of interest and expertise are the correction of dental and facial malrelationships, reconstruction of the jawbone in preparation for dental implants, and placing dental implants. He has lectured extensively to orthodontic study clubs on orthognathic surgery throughout the United States, as well as across Europe and Canada. Dr. Fontanesi has also lectured on sinus bone augmentation to the Academy of Osseointegration and published numerous articles on ridge augmentation bone grafting.
